I am having problems blocking contacts

My psyco ex keeps texting me but I am unable to block the number. I have tried sending calls to voicemail but it doesn’t solve the problem with sms. Please help I want to cry

Sorry to hear about that 

In order to block messages from a specific contact you will need to be using the Hangouts application as your default SMS application. If blocked, SMS and MMS messaged from this number will be archived and you will not be notified if new messages arrive.

To set Hangouts as default SMS application:
1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings > More > Default SMS app > Hangouts

To block SMS/MMS messages from a specific contact:
1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Hangouts
3. Select contact to be blocked from contact list to open conversation
4. Tap the Menu icon (three vertical dots), then tap People & Options > Block [Contact Name] > Block

To unblock SMS/MMS messages from a specific contact:
1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Hangouts
3. Select contact to be unblocked from contact list to open conversation
4. Tap on Unblock

If you would prefer not to use Hangouts as your default messaging application you would need to install an app from the Play Store to perform this function for you. As the apps used would be third party we are unable to suggest a specific one but there are many available that will assist you with doing this.
