epg for general satellite

The EPG that comes up when using the satellite input is pretty useless with most entries stating no information available. 

As my aerial connection isn't great I'd prefer to use the satellite cable and I wondered if there was an app or fix to get a decent epg in place?

I am having the same problem with a new tv I have bought this week 3 years on.  The epg only updates on the channel you select with the current and next programme.  All the other channels just say “no event information”.  This is not usable as a guide should Obviously say what programmes Are available.  I don’t mind if the programmes are downloaded when the tv is switched on - I can wait for a few seconds - so I don’t think not downloading when in standby is a problem.  Is there any way the guide can be populated when the TV is powered on?
