Hi all

I'd like to enquire if it is possible to rename the inputs HDMI 1, HDMI 2 etc to something else - like Laptop, Bluray player, media player - basically assigning a friendly name

as much as a lovely idea that is im afraid thats pretty much a no no.

Erm Bravia55HX923, you are incorrect. You can rename them I have my HDMI1 labelled as home theatre 2 as ps3 3 as xbox 360 and 4 as acer..... you've been able to rename them since i had a KDL32v4000U

You are right, yesterday I was going through the various setup menues and in the external inputs section I found the option to rename the various inputs to either a preset one or freetext. I could also change the icon.

Hi Guys,

i am very sorry, i just dug into this on an earlier BX400, and you are correct!, i have never given this much thought as the main input has been the Blu Ray player and has always switched automatically.

it is a shame though you can only input five letters/numbers combination, well a quick look only revealed that so unless you know different, i am due my HX923 today so will have another play then,

The freetext entry let me input 9 characters and I had the full qwerty options

well the hx923 has arrived!, i have not fully got to grips with it all yet but was able to change one input txt to BLU/RAY, so yeah the later models allow for more txt, the bx400 i had on loan only allowed 5 characters, very handy feature thou, pleased with that
