Hi there,

i dont think this would prompt a response from Sony as i believe warranty issues are likely to be brought up, i am also not sure if theres a kettle type lead on the back of the set behind a plastic plate that would facilitate a simple change, to be honest the Tarantula did not get that much of a review on What Hi Fi and personally i would not bother, maybe if all your really after is a mains conditioner you will be better of with one of these.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tacima-Conditioner-Frequency-Interference-Filter/dp/B000PS5700/ref=pd_sim_ce1

Thats always the big question is'nt it, i would suspect that in terms of serious HiFi gear it does as filtering mains from unwanted RF etc, im not going to dig into a debate on whats been written in testing terms on these.

As for the Tacima, not only does it serve as a filter but more importantly a surge protector to protect from unwanted surges in the mains, i would recommend this for all home cinema kit and expensive TV's.
