kdl 42 w653 a remote control problems

The problems arise around the

options

home

guide and ifo buttons

when I press these buttons the light on base of tv interacts with remote but dosen't operate the requested programme

the only way I can access these functions is to press the I manual button and open them from there and even then the options button gives me an unavailable notification .

any ideas what im doing wrong ?

Hi there

Best guess is a faulty remote control. Doesnt hurt to change the batteries though first.
