Error message - "...sense operation failed"

I have a VGN-A297XP, basically the system needs recovery.

I follow the instructions but a message appears "Cannot find your computer's system drive. Cannot select "C drive Recovery".

I then select complete recovery. The system starts to recover but then the following error message appears stating that "Disk access:Cannot write data on the hard disk because the sense operation failed. Recover your computer again". It doesn't matter how many times I carry out the recovery it fails and the same message appears. The disks appear to be for the VGN-A297XP but I've seen on various forums that there are problems with the recovery disks.
Any suggestions?

I have found several links to the same problem with Vaio's and Disc Access:Sense Operation Failed. I have attached one here

It may be worth contacting Vaio-link for assistance.

I had already seen it.
I don't have another cd drive.:smileysad:
Also I don't fancy paying shed loads of money either .:smileysad:

I have posted the problem with Sony and am waiting to see their reply.
