vaio PCG-FR415S problem in Tokyo...

Hi there,

I purchased my vaio PCG-FR415S notebook in October 2003 in the UK. I have already replaced the lcd screen once since then, and I am currently living in Tokyo. Three days ago, my screen backlight stopped working. During startup, the screen flickers, and then goes dark. I also hear 'popping' sounds coming from my speakers. I can still use my desktop with my nearby lamp, so the lcd/hard drives are not damaged. Since I am now located in Tokyo, I don't know how to fix this problem...I had trouble with sony repair before (overpricing/long time), so I would like to know the best solution. Thanks for any advice,

PS one or two of my keys have also come loose from wear and tear...any ideas?

Might be a wise solution to find a repairer in Tokyo, cheaper than sending it to here

Ya there's no way I'm sending it out West, when I'm based in sony's homeland! I just want to know if I should take it to:
a) private repair/super user
b)sony repair (dread)
c) do it myself....but then PCG-FR inverters are very hard to find!

I'd be very suprised if there are no repairers in Tokyo
