Every so often, my laptop's screen will flicker off.

That's it. No warning. No reason why. The computer continues to run, but the screen has effectively "switched off".

When I close the laptop's lid and bring it back up again, the screen has come back on again. But because I have closed the lid, the laptop is automatically going into stand-by mode.

And whenever my laptop goes into stand-by mode, my wireless connection is broken. For some reason I can't always reconnect after recovering from stand-by, so I have to reboot the computer.

Help! Why on earth does the screen flicker off when it feels like it? How can I fix this?
