Hello. I'm on a VGN-B1XP.
I want to clean my keyboard from inside. There's so much dust in it, plus the 'n' key can't work properly some times.
Can someone give me some instructions on how I should open it and put it back without causing any damage?

Thanks in advance.

Open all the screws and fasteners from the base unit, you can easily remove the keyboard that way, whilst at the same time voiding your warranty.

If you don't want to void your warranty then send it off to Sony for repairs and explain you'd like the keyboard cleaned out as well.

But knowng Sony, they'll charge an extortionate amount for this service.

Hi e-mily and welcome to Club Vaio.

You will achieve nothing by removing the keyboard as the dust etc will be under the individual keys. You can unclip each key, clean beneath and then replace but I would not advise this course of action as refitting the keys can prove problematic.

I would suggest that you purchase a can of compressed air and use this to blow out the debris from beneath the keys.
