Hi lipeuk,

I’m afraid there is no easy answer to this as the performance of any given memory module is dependant on many factors and will only perform as fast as the weakest link in the chain will allow.

For further reading, including an explanation of CAS (column address strobe), have a look
HERE.

Hi Guys!

I want to upgrade memory of my VAIO VGN-SZ1HP/B
I am between 1GZ DDR2-533Mhz Corsair Cas Latency 2.5 128Mx64 or 1GZ DDR2-677Mhz Generic Cas Latency 5 64x64

Which one can be faster?

I had experience to replace DDR400 Cas 3 to DDR533 Cas 5 and I didn't see any difference. I am using EVEREST Home for bearchmark. I can get 5200 points with ddr400 and 5300 points with ddr533 with my HP Laptop. SO it is not big difference at all.

What does CAS mean?

Thanks in advance!

No changes to the system or BIOS are necessary Chicomania, the operating system will recognise the additional memory and utilise it accordingly.
