well....i did have windvd platinum version blah blah blah but i managed to delete it and now need it to install the update any ideas?

A bit more information would be helpful!!! I haven't a clue what you are asking for.

Are you saying you have Uninstalled WinDVD BD and it is no longer on your AR31S? If you have you will need to reinstall it using the Vaio Recovery Utility before you can run the latest update.

If this is the case and you need to know how to reinstall the original WinDVD BD, just post back in this thread and someone will take you through the process.

Hi Dreamdays, what model vaio do you have. If it has a recovery partition and if you created recovery discs then i think it is possible to re-install single programmes using the recovery utility.

sorry...for not having a clue your right on point blencogo! having done any backups yet due to not having my vgn-ar31s long enough to want to back it up...so it's the recovery utility for me then?

You can just reinstall WinDVD BD,

Go to Vaio Recovery Utility and at the opening Main Menu, click on "OPTIONS" at the bottom of the menu. Choose to reinstall a program which was previously installed and you should get a list of available Applications. Just choose WinDVD BD and choose reinstall.

...of which i've done but windvd is not in the list of preinstalled applications ...

Oh Dear! Sounds like it is one of the Applications you have to do a full recovery to get back.

Have you made Recovery DVDs - this may be a good time if you haven't.

OK - Your last chance without having to run a Recovery is to download it from here: -WinDVD BD Ver 8.0.8.100

I have no idea if it will install properly on your model so this is a bit of a gamble but it must be worth the risk as you are facing a Full Recovery anyway if it doesn't work.

I hope you have a quick Broadband connection because the download is 167.48 MB

EDIT: If this installs, there is no need to try to install the update 8.0.08.95 because this is OLDER than the download.
