Keyboard problem with VAIO TX

Hi. I've just bought the new Vaio TX5 Black.
I'm experiencing some problem with the keyboard. The input is slow and several times, some letters is not displayed, although I've pressed the corresponding key.
This is a nasty problem, because I'm forced to look at the screen more often than I did before, to check for missing letters!

In microsoft support site, they tell that it could be a problem with Vista. They suggest to change a registry key, in order to change the "polling status" of the keyboard controller.

Needless to say... the situation is the same, also with the registry key modified!

In your opinion, could it be an "hardware" problem? Does the keyboards of your Vaios work well with Vista?

Welcome to Club Vaio.

This should not happen and if Sony or the shop where you bought your Vaios cannot fix the problem quickly and easily, I would send the Vaios back and ask for a refund or an exchange.

It is just not good enough to supply a premium laptop with such a simple fault.

Vista is no excuse for releasing a poor product.

I have the same problem as well. In fact earlier today the keyboard was actually unusable for a while. The hard drive was busy during this time but not because I was doing anything taxing. I agree that for this level of machine it is entirely unnacceptable. I have had my machine for a week but if this remains a problem I will probably have to go for a refund. It makes the unit unusable.

I do have this problem, but it seems to be less frequent after a memory upgrade to 1,5 GB, so maybe it is a memory-related issue? Vista is a not a ready product and it is a mistake to put it on premium product as the TX5.

I should of explained that I bought the TX5VN. It has 2GB as standard and still has the problem. I have posted a problem with Sony tonight. If they cannot resolve it fully I will be returning the computer and getting one that costs about a third of what I paid for this "top of the line model".

I have more information. Since I posted the problem has got significantly better. This may be because I am mostly using the computer on a docking station. I have seen the problem on and off but it seems to occur more frequently when running on batteries.

Has anyone else improved/resolved this?

I Agree, it does get (much) better, maybee it is because of the superfetch function in Vista, can´t wait until MS gets Service Pack 1 ready. I think tha Vista is a bit different experience then XP and will be much better as time goes by...

Add my name to the list, I'm having a nightmare with the keyboard..

I'm getting the problem mostly in IE7, for some reason Wordpad doesn't seem to be affected!

Which programs are others seeing this problem?

Hia all, Im having the problem with keyboard in IE7, Its ok with Mozilla, So seems like a software problem, Even so i bought the laptop with IE7 on here so expect it to work perfectly, i will contact sony support tommorow and complain.. Anyone else got a resolution to this problem yet..

You might be interested, I recently switched to Firefox as my main browser, and havent noticed any more problems with the 'missing' characters when typing.

Solong IE7, it was nice knowing you

Has anyone seen the problem outside of IE7?

Hi sony support phoned me today and told me they were going to escalate the problem
to Brussels support, So if these machines require memory upgrades its there problem.

So if anyone wants to complain about there machines contact them and quote this thread
as a reference as its only happening with the TX5, And it is there premium model.
