Right Clicking not working

Right Clicking does not bring up a shortcut in
- desktop or explorer environment

It does work when I am in an application or when
I do right click at the very bottom of the screen

There seems as if I accidentally have disabled
this but in spite of trying everthing I just can
not get it working.

Hi there!
Can you do a system restore to a point where it still worked?

Also there are a couple of nasties that can disable right-clicking. Have you done a full virus scan?

I have found that IE7 has a bug in it that will only let me left click once when it has been running for a while. I have to close it to regain control of my double click and right click so now i am using firefox and have no problems whatsoever with it.

Thank you for your input.
Unfortunately I am not able to go far
enought back to resolve the issue.
I have performed a full scan and did not find
anything.

The strange thing is that the righ click shortcut
works in OTHER windows than
-desktop and explorer

If you can give me any more hints I would be most
pleased, thank Hans

Thank you for your input.

I have tried to get my mouse working by connecting a
mouse to USB converter and then plug it in. However XP
does not want to recognised it this way and I dont have
an old fasion (PS/2) mouse input on my VGN-S4M laptop.

Hi Hans

If you put in your recovery DVD in the drive and hold down the shift key

Go to start > run > sfc /scannow

This should scan your system files and replace any that are not correct, corrupt or virus ridden.

Dear Kee-Lo,

I have tried but no success.
1) I have the laptop running
2) I hold down shif key while
3) Start > run> entering sfc/scannow

4)I get a message saying that windows can not find it
5)I get another message saying that "if i want to start
the recovery process with the recovery disk I should insert recovery disk
and restart the computer.

What am I doing wrong?

Dear Matt,

Thank you for your suggestion.
I have deleted internet explorer 7 and installes Firefox.
It did not have any effect. I still have internet 6 on
the system for some reason in spite of using remove sw
function and deleting Internet explorer.

Any additional suggestions as other suggestions have
not resolved the problem. Perhaps Kee-le's suggestions may help
bt I have not been able to executes them correctly.

Yeah this sounds like a problem with the way the recovery media is made, not your fault or a bad copy, it's just they hide the i386 folder on the DVD.

I have now tried all suggestions and NO success.

Is it posssible to download only the Vaio/Microsofts
drivers and having them replaced rather than having
to restore the whole system in order to resolve this
Right Clinking Problem:
Right clicking in desktop and explorer window does NOT
produce a shortcut, which stops me from the very
important and critical functions such as copy, paste
and delete.

Would very much appreciate some more help.
