cd/dvd burner

Hi guys? can anyone help please? I have vaio fs215s,and resently Ihave problem burning same dvd-rw+rw Iuse to burn before it come up the following messege :Sense: 05 ASC: 30 ASCQ: 10 (Command 2A)

I am using the same old sonic and the same old pioneer dvd-rw dvr15k

Hi evelin1,

Sense Code 5/30/10 means "Medium Not Formatted"

Is your drive's firmware up to date?

Do you have the Matshita UJ840D or the Sony DW-D56A drive fitted?

If the latter, it will probably need replacement - it's a DOG!!!

hi blencogo. I have pioneer dvd-rw dvr-15k and I cannot find any firmware for it on sonys website.what do I do?

Although firmware is available from third-party sites for the DVR-K15, it is very risky to use non-Sony firmware.

I don't really know what to suggest - when problems only happen sometimes they are difficult to solve.

Have a look at the suggestions in this thread: -

but probably cleaning the lens and checking for free travel of the laser head are all that will apply to you.

Have you tried different discs? Although they may be the same make, something may have changed in manufacturing. TDK, Verbatim, Sony seem the most consistent.

Sorry I can't think of a magic cure!!!!
