VGN-T2XP and Windows Vista problems

Hi:

I installed windows vista business in my Vaio VGN-T2XP here the 2 problems i have:

Can't get FN keys or volume keys working (already tried the fix from microsoft)
Can't get 3d graphics (the animation and some screen savers don't work and they say my some functionalities required in my graphics card are not available)

Hi Hugo and welcome to Club Vaio.

Have you installed the Vista Sony Utilities from Sony TX2 Downloads ?

To get the Fn Keys working you need to install the following Utilities IN ORDER -

1. Sony Utils DLL
2. Sony Shared Library
3. Vaio Event Service
4. Setting Utilitiy Series.

I don't think your Intel 855GME graphics chip is Vista compatible. I'm pretty sure nothing earlier that 945 series chips can run Aero Effects in Vista. Check the Intel website.

Hello and thanks for you quick answer!

I installed all the utilities as you say, when i install them something strange happens, some of the installations end without wainting for any input (usually you have to click finish or something) is this normal in vista??

Should i try to reinstall them?

You mentioned TX2 Download, mine is a T2XP, they are different, was it an input error or were you actualy saying to install the TX2 utilities? (mayve they are the same, in that case, ignore the question ...)

Yes, use the VGN-T2XP Utilities

It is worth trying to run the Setup Files again in order - it sometimes takes more than once!

I think i've installed the sony utilities like 30 times or more ...

I think that my problem resides in the Sony Shared Library I can't get it installed, it does not appear in the remove programs list. When installing it it apeeard for a few seconds but it disapeear after installation ...

It there any way i can install Sony Shared Library "manually" i mean, installing dll's and registry settings manually??
