BIOS Password

I have never had a password for my VGN-SZ2XP/C laptop. But one is set, is there a way to reset the pass word? I have asked the e-support and can not get an answer.

Also I run win xp pro, will it upgrade to vista ok?

welcome to Club vaio..

It's probably best phoning Vaio-Link on Monday, as they will require information from your before supplying you with a BIOS release code..

Welspoke to Vaio-Link support and entered the password 3 times to get the key. This is where the problem starts. I have to wait 24-48 hours for the one-time key to unlock the BIOS. The problem is I leve home for work at 6-30am and at home at about 6 to 6-30 at night. Support phone line is only open from 8am to 6pm. Also you have to leave the laptop on till they get back to me with the unlock code. I managed to get home early today to call them, but I will not be home in tim tomorrow and would have to wait till monday, but by rhis time I would need a new code. What a PITA it is.

So now I have to wait till I have a few days off to try again.

Before anyone says take the laptop to work, this is not possible as I work on building sites driving machines, the laptop would not last long.

Hi Paul,

would a friend or family member be able to phone vaio-link on your behalf, you may have to confirm this is acceptable with vaio-link first though..

Noty posible as my wife does not use a computer, nor my mum or dad. I will just have to wait till I get a coule of days off in a few weeks time.

Thanks for the help anyway, I just wanted to set the time/date in the bios and lower the amount of ram that is used for the graphics (if I can).

Just install anoher gig of ram and getting readey to try Vista
