VAIO Recovery Utility

Dear Vaio owners,

I have a question about the VAIO Recovery Utility, it comes installed with a pre-installed system but since it had too many extra files I performed a clean install I got everything working again.

- S-buttons
- Fn-buttons
- Power Management
- Vaio Update

U name it , it's working again only thing that is left is the Vaio Recovery Utility.
Can someone help me with this? I can't seem to download the program anywhere, and the version I have asks for VRU.EXE but I don't have that program.
Anyone has a solution?

If I can get that to work again I will make a new post which will get a AR31M 100% working again (and it might work on other systems aswell!)

hi if it wont come on by pressing f12 on power up then you need to ask e-support as they are the only ones that can give it you unless someone on here is kind enough to give you a copy of there disks for the same model

I mean the Utility to recover applications like Win DVD and such, not the system recovery.
This program is bootable from Windows itself and restores applications and enables the user to create recovery cd/dvd's.

So what u stated is something else if im correct.

The Vaio Recovery Tool and Utility will not work with anything but the preinstalled Sony OEM Operating System.

Unless you are using the original OS you can only do the following: -

1. Carry out a full Recovery by tapping F10 on startup.
2. Carry out a full Recovery by booting with the Recovery System Disc in the drive.

However, there are ways of reinstalling individual applications - see this post: -

Thank u Blencogo, but I don't have a Recovery Disc only a Recovery HDD which I can't get acces too, and since I can use almost everything except this I won't do a full Recovery. I know it should be possbile to install the Vaio Recovery Tool because a lot of people say it's the same with Vaio Update 3 and I got that working again aswell so, I just want to get everything back on and share it with other people.

this is the preinstalled ones with everything that was onit when you got it

(its best takin the nintendo rocks off as this is a sony place)

Sorry got my signature, anyways the Utilities Package does not include software, therefor I need the Recovery Utility too work again. It's the only application that is able to acces the recovery partition.

I doubt E-support would help as Ikkinl is not using the original OS..

If you're looking for the VAIO recovery utility, you wont be able to find it anywhere on the Sony site, not even anywhere except the HDD that came with it or the restore discs you might have created, & the restore discs will only enable you to restore the pc to its factory setting restoring the utility.. But you could get the Win DVD application though even without the restore disc
