Camer and Microphone do not work.

I am trying to use skype but I cannot get the microphone or camera to work at all.

I have also tried running the camera capture utility that comes with my VAIO, this says that there is no camera input.

I don't want to buy a new camera and microphone when my VAIO should already have one so how do I fix this? Do i need to manually activate the camera and microphone?

Help on matter would be greatly appreciated.

OK, somehow the camera is now working on the camera capture utility, perhaps it is because I changed the power settings to performance. However the microphone still isn't working. Are there any other control panel options which may affect the microphone.

All Vaios are a little different.

Please post which model Vaio you have - you may get a more sensible answer.

Support says I have the VGN-FZ11M model. The number on my laptop is different. If I put the microphoen boost on full then I can hear static on my microphone. Without the boost nothing happens and it is silent. I still require help on this matter.
