    <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;PRE __jive_macro_name="quote" class="jive_text_macro jive_macro_quote"&gt;I tried both, format and initialize from SS.&lt;BR /&gt;Both delete all music and photos and also the folders, includind the skins, etc... so you have to reinstall the firmware if you don't remember how is it done or how the folders were called.&lt;BR /&gt;The VP still works, anyway, there is a hidden system folder.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/PRE&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I'm lucky because I bought my VP after all updates and release of SS 3.0.&lt;BR /&gt;The first thing I've done, was updating the firmware. then I tried to transfer music to my VP, but SS 3.0 wanted my ATRAC DEVICE to be initialized! I formatted my VP's HDD from the its setting menu, and then both my SS 3.0 and VAIO music transfer program started to work with it.&lt;BR /&gt;But I didn't have to upgrade the firmware again, and it didn't deleted all my folders or subfolders! it just got rid of any pic or sample music, nothing more! (That's horrible enough, especially when you have like 30GB on it:smileysad: )&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
