i cant see the good in that except if sony upgraded sonicstage in subjects that concern the vaio pocket.
i hope that v3.0 is at least FASTER than the previous one,as it was extremely slow in all computers ive seen it working.

ARRRGHHHH !!!

Be careful when using version 3.0, I upgraded from 2.3 and was asked to initialise my device. On doing so it said you will NOT lose music files but everything else apart from !!! Hmmmm this is not the case, so now I have lost all my 100-150 albums which were painfully ripped to WMA files so I could convert them to ATRAC easily enough...

I wish they could program properly, but now I'm running 3.0 it seems to run much faster so I expect I will be happy once again when my tunes are back...

LOL, if you can live with the poor Atrac3 quality. WMA is much better, but too poor for my ears.

I prefer OggVorbis, MPC and maybe Lame.

Hmmm well I am coming from 192K down to 132K, I can't tell the difference and I'm using a decent pair of Sennheisers (in-ear and big hugging heffers), plus the amount of files is quiet important to me as I use the device for photo backups when travelling...

You can compare Atrac3 with 132kBit/s with an good Tape deck.
WMA with 192kBit/s has a good quality, but you can't compare this with MPC or Lame.

I don't have a VP. But if the VP plays WMA, I would use this.

Lame based on the MP3 codec. I don't know if you can play this on the VP.
And MPC has no hardware support, you can play this only on a PC.

The hardware support of OggVorbis is a little bit thin. IRIVER sells some Players which supports OggVorbis.

I think I reported on this back in August 2004 when I got news that they were making 3 to sort the bugs out and make better VP support.
