VGN-CR31S - Camera stopped working

Help! My built in Vaio camera has stopped working. I have a blue screen and under camera is says 'no input' like it's no longer installed.

I tried to follow a few similiar threads re 'hotfixes' etc to resolve it but got VERY confused!

Can anyone help / explain in a simple way?

I would be so so grateful for some advice!

Hi JustineL and welcome to Club Vaio.

The first thing to check is that the camera is installed correctly - it is possible some other program or update has caused it to uninstall.

Start -> Control Panel -> Device Manager

Expand each section and see if you can see any device with a yellow warning icon next to it. Also look to see if you can find any mention of a camera device.

Come back and report what you find.

Hello! Thanks so much for responding to me. I have only just logged in to see your message.
I have just checked the Device Manager, and under 'Imaging Devices' there is not a camera listed, just 'USB Video Device' (not sure what that is).

So it seems to have disappeared! I have tried to re-install the originally installed drivers and utilities, but it doesn't seeem to have had any effect?! It's a mystery...
