Hi squashme,

Restart your Vaio and at the first Vaio Logo screen, tap F2 repeatedly to enter the BIOS.

Is your hard drive recognised and shown in the BIOS?

If no then it is likely that the MBR has been destroyed by the viruses. I'm afraid you may need to buy a new hard drive and reinstall everything from the Recovery Discs.

If yes then you should be able to repair the MBR and Boot.ini by using a bootable Vista or XP installation disc and running FIXMBR and FIXBOOT in the Recovery Console.

Hi squashme,

try this..

Remove your recovery disc's from the CD/DVD drive, Restart your Vaio and when you see the Vaio Logo press the F10 key repeatedly, hopefully this will start the recovery process..
