incompatible battery error message vgn-fz31s

Hi everyone
I've been getting the following error message on my vaio "installed battery may not be properly connected to computer or compatible with the computer click ok to enter hibernate mode and remove and reinsert battery" i have removed and reinstalled battery but still get message.It is the original battery in 1year old vaio everything works fine when i remove battery.Do i have to get a new battery or is there some sort of other problem?Any help would be very gratefully received.

I think the only way to be sure is to try and borrow a working battery from a friend or a store selling Vaios and see if this cures the problem.

Thanks for answering blencogo.I disabled all start up programmes and the error message has gone.
