topic Discrimination? in PCs & Accessories

I needed a laptop to replace a unit stolen on holiday in New York last month. I decided on the NW150J because it offered a free Win7 upgrade. Now that I'm back home in UK I tried to pre-register for the free upgrade but the European Sony site doesn't recognize the serial number, and there seems no mechanism to get support by email. I did email US support who confirmed my Vaio did qualify for free upgrade, but they wouldn't ship outside U.S. The global Sony site says I must get support based on where I live, but the European site says support must come from the office in the country of purchase. And it seems the only way to contact Sony UK is through a premium rate number 0905 0310006. This is discriminatory as support for products purchased in UK is through a local rate number. If I had known Support on such a simple issue would prove so difficult maybe my choice of Sony was not good...
