VAIO S5XP/B not starting up - please help!

Hi - Please help!

I have a vaio VGN-S5XP/B and it doesn't start up. I've tried it without the battery, mains supply alone and with an alternative new battery but still no joy.

Any ideas?

Hi saini,

welcome to Club VAIO..

Do you have anything on the screen.?
Do any of the lights on your vaio light up.?

In the mean time try this...

Unplug the power supply and remove the cable and all connected devices from your Vaio, then remove the battery.

Once done press and hold down power button for a full 30 seconds, then replace the battery and then plug in power cord. Once completed turn the laptop on..

thanks for replying

the screen remains blank/black, the hard drive sounds as if it's about to start then stops, the power light on the fron remains on.

Any thoughts?

I tried the holding down the power key for 30sec as suggested and it did the trick!
I had tried everything else, searched google, opened up the laptop - as much as I dared all to no avail.
The sony help pages were of no use. This forum works.

hi,

I may have been a bit premature in thinking my problem's solved. It still fails to start up despite trying the suggested fix which worked before.

Any ideas?

Hey please help my vaio laptop is not startin up i pressed the power button but the screen just goes black and nothing loads up i've tried everything please help!!

Hi Nancy,

do you get anything displayed on screen.?

Do you get the same problem in the BIOS

To enter the BIOS restart your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo press the F2 key repeatedly..

To exit the BIOS press F9 to reset the BIOS to default and press F10 to save and exit..

Aslo try connecting your Vaio to an external monitor, do you still have the same problem.?
