hmm seems a little ott doing it every three months. I usually restore to factory setting once a year. Might be a better idea to just try some system tweaks and maintance

try http://www.blackviper.com/ for the tweaks, has a lot

and defraging and cleaning the registry should keep your system running at it's peak.

ryu

in the other post that someone posted about getting a new drive and having the sonic stage files moved or something...

you mentioned that you had five partitions on one drive no wounder your system is slacking

every time you make a partition the system sort of treats it like a new drive and therefore is slower

this is why it is highly reccommended to strip your drives (if you have two the same ) it improves system performance 10fold because the computer is thinking that two drives are one

next time you go through your little restore cycle
make just two partitions both the same size....
also
you are just installing programs on your system drive arnt you thsi should only be used for this purpose and should really be kept at a 80% free level for your system to be running at its full protential

also you say that you are uninstalling and installing appz all the time you should check your disk every time you do this for frangmentation

i bet if you mentained your pc in proper order then you wouldnt need to waste time restoreing

and another thing about always restoring

if you keep recording over a video tape it eventually gets shuch bad quality it is un useable

i know it might seem like you are gettin g great performance this is only because at first nothing is installed

regards ben

well you could probably get it a lot faster then what a restore can do. I'm using 10GB on my C and 20GB on my D now. It came with 4GB of stuff on the C and nothing on the D. My PC runs one hell of a lot faster because of tweaking and keeping it clean.

15 minutes to get your PC back up and running? I find that hard to believe. What about the software you need to install that didn't come with the software. Not to mention all the windows updates, virus defintions and all the other software updates.

Well not to escalate this into an argument LOL but I'm with the other guys on this Ryan. I always used to like a nice clean install, it got rid of the Windows crap-ups but other than that a properly maintainted computer shouldn't have problems with adware or viruses.

I use Spybot, Bazooka Spyware blaster and Trend micros free virus scan alongside norton and I never have any problems with viruses or adware. Additionally I would look out for some of the optimisation/tweaking/maintenance tools out there. A few years ago I used to reinstall Windows regularly because of similar problems but now the programs to help you keep your PC healthy are so good there really is no need anymore.
