Connect a dv cam using i link

Hi,
I'm trying to connect my panasonic dv camera (NV-GS3) to an RS 704 using dv gate but the programme will not see the camera. Has anyone else had similar problems connecting dv cameras ?

Ah. I had the same problem but there was a download at Vaio-Link which sorted it out. Does it work in Click to DVD?

Download and Installation Instructions
1.Download the file CTD_140407210.zip and save it to a download directory.
2.Right-click CTD_140407210.zip and select Extract All...
3.Follow the on-screen instructions to extract CTD_140407210.zip to a folder (note this folder for reference)
4.Open the folder in which you have extracted the compressed file
5.Double-lick SETUP
6.Click Next.
7.Wait while SETUP installs the new program.
8.Click Finish

From the Panasonic help centre:

Q. My PC running Windows XP cannot communicate via Firewire with my Panasonic DV camcorder.
A. Some Windows XP installations are unable to use some DV camcorders as a video source and cannot therefore detect the camcorder in the video editing software. This problem can some times be rectified by downloading an update from Microsoft's website at http://support.microsoft.com by searching for their knowledge base entry 329256.
If your Windows XP installation has been updated to Service Pack 1 however, then there is also an update available from the same website which is covered by Microsoft's knowledge base entry 810032.

My machine has come with service pack 2 and the patch wont load as it it ser 2!

When you connect the camera, do you get the new hardware found message in the systray area? Does XP identify the device correctly?

Disconnect the camera, go to device manager and delete the IEEE1394 controller. Shutdown and restart the computer - this will allow the drivers for the firewire controller to be reinstalled.

Tun on the camera, switch to playback mode and reconnect. If the camera is still not detected then try another firewire cable.
