Hi ntha,

Have you tried contacting Vaio Link for a solution.
It's unlikely they will provide you with a backdoor password but they may offer a solution.
Have you forgotten the password or did someone else set it?

indeed, contacing Vaio-Link is the only way arround it.
This is done to prevent stealing the product since you need to proof that you are the owner before anything can be done regarding it... I think this is a fair solution for everybody.

is the BIOS password the one that you choose for security? i.e. is there ALWAYS a BIOS password?

You can set a BIOS password to :
* prompt you before starting the unit
* prompt you before you can enter the BIOS
* Prompt you when you return from hibernation

Basically, when you switch the unit on it will ask you for the password before it loads windows. It is recommended to set the BIOS password in the BIOS itself, so that there can be no problems with the wrong keyboard layout AND make sure that there is no Num Lock or Caps lock on when you set the password to avoid problems entering it later.
