I have been given a laptop which hadn't been used since 2008. I tried to update windows and downloaded 99 updates! The last few didn't work (i.e.wouldn't configure and automatically reverted over and over again). I tried to restore the original operating system (Vista Home Premium, by the way) but now I'm having all sorts of issues. How can I recover a working laptop when I don't have any recovery discs? Anyone's help would be very much appreciated.
