DVD Drive Not Working Properly

I have a vaio VGN-FW31E & the dvd drive has stopped working properly (Optiarc AD-7590S) it just clicks & whirs then eventualy works. So i've decided to replace it.

Whats the best option for a replacement my current model or is there a better one?

Look for firmware at the manufacturer's website. Did you check in 'hardware' for problems? You can try reinstalling the driver there.
Right click on 'my computer' > properties > hardware > device manager > double click on your cdrom.
