Hi Saruna and welcome,

Are you trying to fit the correct memory? - it should be DDR PC3200 RAM.

Although you should be able to put any compatible memory into any slot, your RSM22 supports Dual-Channel memory so for optimum results, you should introduce a new pair of RAM Modules into slots 3 & 4. You should introduce 2 X 512MB or 2 X 256MB. Your Vaio will take up to a total of 2GB RAM

Have a look HERE AT CRUCIAL.COM for compatible memory.

Hi.

I need your help.

Today I wanted to upgrade my memory with one 512 MB RAM-module (from Samsung) with the same specifications like the existing RAMS on ASUS P4SD-VX mainboard (original-board).
But it was not working. PC didn't want to boot. I tried various slots for RAM-modules. In another PC (not Sony) the 512 MB-module works fine.

What can I do to upgrade my RAM to 1 GB? Actually there are the original 2 RAM-modules à 256 MB in it.

Hope - you are can help me.

Thanks in advance and greetings from Cologne

Saruna

Hi Blencogo,

thank you for your quick answer.

In my Vaio are 2 RAM Modules à 256 MB (PC2700, DDR333) in slot 1+2. Can it be that the German Vaio has a different hardware as other countries?
With only one Module 512 MB (Samsung, PC2700, DDR333), like I tried it yesterday, it didn`t work.

Now I wonder, if other PC2700 Modules would run - even if I would put two of them in the free slots 3+4. I would like to buy two 256 MB Modules from MT (256MB DDR333, CL2.5) at a hardware-shop near to me.

Do you think that memory of MT would be compatible?

Greetings Saruna

Hi Saruna,

MT memory should be OK because Crucial.com is the e-commerce arm of Micron Technology - they are the same company.

Crucial offer a guarantee that the memory they recommend will be compatible. So it should be possible to try 2 X 256MB and return it if it doesn't work.
