Hi Richard and welcome.

A long shot but worth a try before considering a reinstall - have you tried reinstalling the Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio? This may also have been trashed.

It should show under System Devices in Device Manager. You can reinstall it by running KB835221.EXE which you will find in C:\Drivers.

Hi I seem to have lost the sound on my VA1.

I had installed a 4 port video capture card with a view to using the computer to record my CCTV camera. On installing the drivers (ImaVision audio and video capture drivers) I seem to have barfed the SigmaTel sound drivers.

I have removed this card, and as far as I know removed all traces of the ImaVision drivers and tried re-installing the SigmaTel drivers from C:/Drivers/Audio. System/Hardware/Device Manager reports SigmaTel High Definition Audio Device is working properly but it isn't! I also have no volume control icon on the taskbar either.

MusicMatch Jukebox reports: soundcard problem WaveOut Format not supported.

Should I have other audio devices beside SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC?

Does anyone have any ideas to resolve this or am I looking at a re-install?

Many thanks,
Richard

Hi, I re-installed this morning, sound back as normal. Only thing is, media centre now says the TV Tuner hardware isn't installed (it is) or is malfunctioning. It was working before the re-install, ARRGH!

In Device Manager: Avermedia Hybrid TV Tuner Card: Properties - Properties Tab though, there's only an audio capture device listed no mention of video capture device.

Any ideas?

Richard
