I notice that the Sony online shop says this has a compatible 'Security Cable with Alarm'
(PCGESECU1.YD). I'm not sure I need an alarm, but I certainly like the idea of securing it with one of those steel cables to the desk. Trouble is, I can't find an obvious locking point that goes into the metal chassis like I've seen on larger notebooks, and there's no mention of one in the manual. I don't want to buy a generic one with no Sony guidance as to where to fit it in case it doesn't fit anywhere, or I fit it to somewhere unsuitably flimsy.

So can anyone tell me how I lock down this model? Is it the one just behind the USB ports on the right?

Thank you! It looked like the only likely place, but I couldn't see in to see if it went into metal behind the plastic.

It's funny really. All for the want of one 'callout' on one of the diagrams in the manual.

I used to do manuals just like the Vaio one for Mitsubishi too. Wouldn't have happenned in my day, grumble grumble.... 😉

AND we wouldn't have gone through the trouble of designing a print-ready manual, then only given it out as a rubbishy PDF and telling the user to print and bind it (saving 70p tops on the manufacturing cost).
