Hi

I have a VAIO V2S and am thinking about getting a newer graphics card so that it will work with VISTA ultimate. Can anybody tell me which Graphics driver I should get?

Also are they difficult to install?

Thank you

Hi Imran,

I don't think a Graphics Chip upgrade is possible in your V2S. It is not a true Desktop PC.

The V2S Vaios use the nVidia GeForce FX Go5700 chip - this is a laptop chip and is not interchangeable as it is soldered into the main board.

However, I see no reason why your nVidia GeForce FX Go5700 should not be able to run Vista Aero perfectly well if you get an up-to-date Vista nVidia driver.

As Blencogo says it's integrated to the motherboard, so it's not able to be upgraded.

Its a shame they don't have PCI-E slots so you can put in your own card.

Is there any particular reason why you want to upgrade it?

Hi Imran,

Try downloading the Vista driver for your FX Go 5700 FROM HERE AT LAPTOPVIDEO2GO.COM

Use one of the fully released Vista WHQL drivers like Ver 101.09 and download it to a temporary directory or your desktop.
Click on the INF file beside it and download this to a temporary directory. You must download this modded INF file or the driver will not install.
You need to extract the downloaded driver 101.09. If it is an .EXE file just double click on it and nominate a new directory to put it in - something like C:\NV. If it is not an .EXE file, right click on it and choose 'Extract All' and extract to a new directory C:\NV.
Copy the INF file into this directory C:\NV overwriting any previous INF.
Go to Device Manager, expand Display Adapters and right-click on your nVidia FX Go 5700 card. Choose 'Update Driver'.
Choose "NO", "INSTALL FROM A SPECIFIC LOCATION", HAVE DISC and BROWSE to C:\NV.
