Blu - ray disc unrecognised

Hi I have a vaio FW21E and tried playing a blu-ray disc on it about 8 mths ago , all it did was say no media or please insert disc , i have tried all the fixes and updates i have read about and decided it might be the blu-ray disc itself so i just bought another one and i have exactly the same problem , that is it simply doesn't recognise the media , i downloaded a trial version of power dvd but that can't read it either , looking at this forum there is a lot of problems with blu-rays and notebooks if any help i have an optiarcBDROM BC5500S and from what i can tell yes i have installed the firmware update

I've got the same combo Optiarc BC-5500S4 and as for you, impossible to read Bluray.

Did you find any solution?

I'm afraid not as yet , somebody did tell me it's probably a faulty drive as blu-ray discs need a stronger laser to read them , not sure , but my drive works fine in every aspect apart from blu - ray discs

I'll try a last one with a format of the laptop.

If still no success, no choice, I'll have to buy an extra reader.
