Hi
I have the Vaio VGN-S1XP, with the following configuration: Pentium M 735 1,7 Ghz, 60 HDD, 1024MB ram and the Radeon 9700 graphics.
I noticed that the notebook gets very hot on the right side . With very hot I mean very hot, it is not very comfortable to work with on my lap.
Is this normal for the notebook to get this hot? I had a Vaio XG700 before this one and it never got as hot the S series.
Haven¿t read much about the issue and wanted to check out if it is maybe a fault in the notebook or if it is just normal?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Foxhound: Does the right side of your VAIO have a CDRW/DVD Drive? If it does and you use it a lot, then these drives will get warm, otherwise, as Kee-Lo said, if its new get Sony to have a look - the contact numbers can be found on the vaio-link website (LINK)

Thanks for the replies guys! No the DVD-Drive is on the left front side. Thank God I haven't had shutdown because of overheating like some others.
It's just that I expected the VAIO to be a lot more cooler then this. My sister has got a Fujitsu-Siemens with a Centrino 1.4 Ghz and it never gets as hot as my S1XP at the costs of 1000 Euros less.
Before the S series I had a Vaio XG700, the US-version of the X39 and I could work with it on my lap with no problems.
I just wanted to know if there are other S serie users out there with prior experience and get some info before addressing Sony about this.

I had the memory upgrade pre-installed by Sony, so I don't have any idea if the problem would be the memory. The memory compartment underneath the laptop stays cool. The heat mostly build up around the area where the hot air comes out (right side)
