i want ot use wirless internet but it wont connect or seem to search for any hosts/signals i dont no how to use wireless can some one help me?

It may sound a little "daft" to ask which country it was bought from, but in France for instance they have specific frequencies that Wireless (WiFi) devices are allowed to run on - I don't think country has such strict regulations. The equipment you use to connect to the internet will also affect your connection.

Are you trying to use an Access Point (Internet) or Ad-Hoc (Peer-Peer sharing)?

well it was made in china hehehe, i brought it in ther uk
i'm currently having to use dialup internet which dfeats the purpose of my laptop!! when u switch the wiless on with the little button at the front is it supposed to recognise on the desktop because it does nothing apart from shine a little green light!

I'm sorry I think we need some more information........what model is your wireless router? Are you using an unsecured network (No WEP)? Have you set the SSID to be broadcast (Which would be the first step I think for you)

Gazza,

Apologies if I am wrong but I am beginning to think that you are under the impression that your onboard wireless will negate the need for a dial up modem cable to your phone line.

Unfortunately it is not that simple.:smileycry:

You will need:

a broadband connection
b network modem
c router
d wireless access point

or a one box solution that does b,c&d

Then finally you need a lot of patience to get it all working, but once it is you will live happily ever after.

You don't really need broadband to go wireless anyway, though you would have to leave a PC on.

Do you use someone elses broadband (neighbour?), what other use is wireless on one PC/laptop?

No William, if you have more than one PC, you don't need broadband to have a WLAN at all.

One PC would have to have the modem on though.
