PCG-GRZ515G Problem - turning itself off

I have a GRZ515G laptop, had it just over a year now so it has passed out of warranty which is very annoying because after being on for more than about 2 hours it randomly turns off and will not come back on again for at least a few minutes. It seems to have no problems with this though as it doesnt run scandisk or anything like that. It is just extremly annoying and i wondered if anyone else had the same problem. It is made worse by playing games, that is if i can get the game to run as it seems to turn off after a couple of minutes. Help anyone?

Yes it does heat up quite a bit. Is there anything i should be doing about this because i stand it up on the small feet and hope that it tries to keep it cooler.

Try spraying condensed air into the notebook, a lot of these models get clogged up with dust etc.

I too have a grz 515g and know whats wrong with yours.
This has happened to me on 2 seperate occasions and the solution is to stop the unit heating up.
Your computers filter beside the fan is full of dust.
1.You have to unscrew the small screw on the left side beside the memory stick slot.
2. Ease the whole section that contains the power on button leftwards and flip up towards the screen.
3.Unscrew the screw at the top of keyboard and gently hinge the keyboard towards you.
4.On the right hand side there is a metal plate with two screws on it...remove the plate.
5.The fan is now fully exposed..unscrew the 3 screws holding the fan in.
6.Remove the fan..this will expose a filter that will be thick with dust etc
7. Gently remove dust

The screws are very fidly and I found that using a magnetic screwdriver helped enormously.
My 515G was always switching off when I was rendering movies...most annoying. It tended to go off after about 90 degrees ..After removal of dust rendering never takes temp above 75 degrees

Don't forget to put the filter back !!

Without the filter, the innards of the computer (cooling fan etc.) may get covered in crud (which the filter is now stopping).
