Bleutooth headset

Hi, anybody out there who can help me to connect a bleutooth headset with a VGN-S1XP?
Configuration: Windows XP SP2 and Bleuspace NE.
Bleuspace and Windows bleutooth don,t give any Service Discovery. The headset works fine on another computer with USB Bleutooth dungle without SP2.

SP2 and BlueSpace NE probably conflict. Try removing BlueSpace NE and using the features in SP2 instead.

I'm in the same situation. I have a plantronics M3000 and want to use it as a headset with my A197VP.

The Plantronics website says that it will work with devices that support the Headset or Handsfree Bluetooth services. It looks like neither the VAIO or XP support the Headset service.

This is pretty silly with the growing popularity of VOIP!

Is there no update to the BlueSpace NE software to include the Headset service?

Yes indeed neither XP SP2 nor Bleuspace can handle the haedsets. Even tried the program which came with a USB bleutooth dungle didn't work either.
E-mailed Sony and hopefully Bleuspace or Microsoft will come with a solution because would be a shame if you buy a vaio with bleutooth and may even have to install a USB bleutooth device to let your headset work.
If somebody else has a solution would be welcome

Yep I finally installed SP2 - just to see if it would make any difference, but unfortunately it didn't help the situation!

It's pretty crazy that they haven't thought about headsets yet!

Fputter - keep us up to date if you hear anything back from Sony.

I also want to use a bluetooth handset and a bluetooth mouse on my
S1XP but I am not sure that the experiment will be succeed.
Sony made clear that bluethooth specifications are standarized and every device using bluetooth is supported.But ......we must finished the professional level of programing in C++ to write our own drivers and applications in order to use bluetooth.

Sony we always respect you and we always support you
please pay a little bit of attention to us .......

As far as I know, headsets are using the profiles HandsFree-Unit or Headset-HS.

Sony's Bluespace supports only BIP-ImagePush, BIP-RemCam, DUN-DT, HCRP-Client, Serial-DevA, Serial-DevB, HID-Host, OPP Client, OPP Server, GAP SDAP.

WinXP SP2 only DUN-DT, PAN-AP, PAN-Group, PAN-User, HCRP-Client, Serial-DevA, Serial-DevB, HID-Host, OPP Client, OPP Server, GAP SDAP.

Sorry... no match.

EXACTLY!!! That's the problem.

We want to know if Sony are going to update Bluespace software to include the headset/handsfree services.

Or if anyone knows of other Bluetooth software that works with headsets!

Bluespace no longer works once you've installed SP2 (Microsoft taking over again). Just updated my 'USB Bluetooth Device' driver but all it did was add PAN support which is of no use to me.

Come on Sony and Microsoft, give us Headset and Handsfree support! so I can use my 197VP and my Bluetrek G2.

You've probably realized by now that the issue is with the Sony Bluetooth stack.

I had been experiencing several different issues with Bluetooth devices on my S1XP, my main frustration was with Bluetooth ActiveSync to my Windows Smartphone.

To cut a long story short, i have found an alternative stack from a different manufacturer that can be tweaked to work with S1 Bluetooth (and probably any CSR chip based alternative) which has solved all my problems.

The only downside is another manufacturers logo on your machine but rather that than cross my fingers and hope that the peeps @ Sony get over the arrogance issue, and understand what is meant by the word "standard".

Anyway, if anyone is interested in the alternative, mail me ( I would post the solution here but some manufacturers get a bit sensitive about these things, especially when other vendors can make there kit work better than they can )

I hope you understand that i was not really happy with this answer so wrote them another e-mail which you can read below.

if you mean the solution with the seperate USB device, it works but i like to use the build in Bleutooth device on my notebook.
And Sony sells a notebook with such a device it would be nice if you can use it, specially if other devices can deliver drivers or protolcols who can.
If WinXP could come up with a solution so that Windos can handle a Bleutooth Headset that would be fine as well.

i just received answer from Sony (see below)
So we just have to wait for Sony (Bleuspace) or Microsoft to develop extra 'profiles' .
If somebody in the mean time finds other programs or drivers which will work pls let me know.

the "bleutooth headset" is indeed discovered by winXP SP2, and Bluespace NE, but there are no services available

Bluespace NE only supports the The BIP Profile
Win XP SP 2 supports:
- Personal Area Networking (PAN). Enables IP connections over Bluetooth.

- Hardcopy Cable Replacement Profile (HCRP). Enables printing.

- Human Interface Device (HID). Enables Bluetooth keyboards, mice, and joysticks

- Dial-Up Networking (DUN). Enables Bluetooth mobile phones to work as modems.

- Object Push Profile (OPP). Enables pushing and pulling of small data files (for example business card - vCard - exchange)

- Serial Port Profile (SPP). Enables legacy programs to communicate with Bluetooth devices (for example hotsync).

as wel Microsoft as sony is looking into the problem and we keep you updated on the problem.
