DVD not recognised

Hi there,

The DVD drive isn't working in my VGN-A417M - I think it isn't loading the driver, the device manager says "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)" - any help would be greatly recieved as my work load is backing up!

if anyone has any idea's please help, i recently had an accident and can't drive for another 3 weeks so taking it back to the shop for assistance is impossible!

Hi Danspoon and welcome to Club Vaio.

In device manager, either uninstall the driver for this device, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver or uninstall the drive, re-boot and let windows find and install the drivers.

Hi Rich,

Many thanks for your help. I had tried this before, but i tried it again following your instructions and got the same thing, it says that there's a problem loading drive. However, for reasons unknown to me, it started working again this morning!

That is weird! Let's hope that the problem doesn't recur
