i think my screen is dying (VGN-A215M)

i loved my laptop.
unril the keys started to come off.
no problem my warranty covered that so new keys
ah... happened agan..
never mind... warranty covered it again
humm.. 3rd time it happened.. got a little ticked off..
but no matter..
same thing...
but i dont understand.. because it wasnt from misuse.. they just randomly slid off... humm...

right.. so..

4th time i just couldnt be bothered..all together the laptop had been in services for like 1 month.. pc world took the mick sending it to sony..

but ok.. i can live with a few letters missing..

L, D and then W
but w is down to the rubber so its VERY hard to type cos i have to really press down on it..

ok but..

i dont know whats happened but..

sometimes if i tap my laptop a lil bit it'll change.. or if i move my laptop screen itll stop.. for a few minutes.. but.
it started doing this 1 day AFTER my warranty finnished..
oh my god
i nearly cried
so.. what should i do with my laptop?
anyone any idea how much it'll cost to get fixed?

Hi Matt and welocme to the Club

Sorry to hear Sony have messed you around (thats an understatement) - looks like your cable connecting the LCD to the motherboard might be loose - if you get a local repairer to look at it you'll save a lot of money and time - yell.co.uk is a good place to find local repair people.

right thanks... erm.. humm.. ive had it to pieces and back again but diddnt see anything loose.. i even checked the hdd..
i'll have another look tho..
im pretty expecienced with pc's
but not that much with laotops.. but i dunno

i see the metal bit by the screen has snapped tho. thats a bugger

Because sony had it so long for repair you could of noticed the fault earlier so i would blame them they should fix your screen, but i know what they are like they wont do nothing but its worth a try i think

This link to nexttronics was posted by a forum master a while ago, you may be able to order the replacement parts, that's if you want to try the repair yourself?

it seems that i cant do any art like..erm

if i go on psp or photoshop.. then save

the green stays on the actual project..

so does this mean? other than i cant do artwork no more 😐

reet... it changes all the time..
sometimes i can make it ok but then i move it n it goes back to flickering green..

any way self solve?

I'm a little confused
Did you try a monitor with it?
If you can open it up make sure the fan is correctly fitted to the GPU

erm.. yeh its same on other monitor. i can open it up..
is the gpu the ermmm well is it the graphics card or the other one.. heh..
look a bit taxing to dismantle. but i'll try ❤️

Yes, it's the graphics card, but with the VAIO it's on the motherboard.

I'd look for free quotations, because some companies want £20 for just looking!
