Help needed: Possible to change catch aka temporary folder in Viewer?

In Viewer pixel shifted images are compiled if you will into a single data/image file. This is saved in the computers temporary folder (Windows). Now apply this to a macro photography stack and stitch rig at ultra macro (5,10,20x macro) the depth of field is supper tiny requiring many shots needed to be stacked on top to get a decent depth of field. So long story cut short (TLDR) i have 1000's sometimes 10,000s of images to be saved in Viewer but my computer of 250gb memory does not have the space to store it all. Is there a way to assign another folder in another drive in viewer as the temporary/catch folder?

Moved file in question from comp to another drive. created shortcut and placed back into original file destination on computer and ensured the file name was identical. Restarted Viewer and ran a pixel shift. Viewer was unable to locate file (maybe because the new file is classified as a 'shortcut' file).

... if anyone has any ideas i will take them
