did you accidentally activate the "ambient sound" setting in the app? With it you can reduce the strength of the NC.

Is this after updating to firmware v4.1.1? If so, I absolutely concur. Noise cancelling potency has decreased noticeably.

Not only that, but I can't ask Alexa to play anything on Spotify, and even if I ask for some music from Amazon Music, Alexa says "Shuffling tracks by xxx on amazon music" yet nothing actually plays.

In additional to terrible call quality (present prior to v4.1.1) I think these additional issues will push me to return my 1000xm3's for a refund.

No I have only 50 percent charge so charging before update , now I don't think I want to update after your story I don't really need to I think as I use Google unless there is other stuff with the update,, Im starting to see why so many of these are ending up for sale as refurbished on Sony's website

I would definitely recommend against updating in that case, although it's strange we've both noticed a decrease in Noise Cancelling profundity despite being on different firmwares.

thanks ,I won't be updating at all untill I've heard more from other members on here ,, I got mine in December from a local Sony centre so I will have to call in an try them against there display pair for comparison,, Im a bit disappointed as this is now my second pair In over a month with NC problems

I too bought mine (refurbished though) from a Sony Center, but over the phone (Carlisle store).

For such a premium product, a lessening of its main selling point (i.e. stellar noise cancelling), is just not acceptable.

Hi Steviemo,

As far as I know the noise cancellation feature works only in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices.

I found very useful information in the Help Guide, if you can have a look here: https://bit.ly/2Mnthm0

Cheers,

The_Black_Rose

I don't think that it's true it only works in low frequencies. It certainly works better in low frequencies but the whole point of noise cancelling becoming better over time is that it covers other frequencies. The fact that Sony has options to "focus on voice" means something is covering the sound of voices.

If there is an issue, and we're not sure there is, Sony should work to fix it if ANC has changed over an update.
