topic New HDR-CX280E camcorder in General chat

I have just purchased a Sony HDR -CX280E camcorder (uses SD). The HDMI cable is great and plays bacck through my TV HDMI connection. However it also has a Multi terminal which according to the instruction book can link with an AV cable to a dvd recorder and record onto a normal disc which comes out in STD standard. I have three choices in which to video HD/MPEG4/STD. So I bought a vktech VMC-15MR2 AV cable and set it up between the multi terminal and my dvd recorder and got nothing - no sound or picture with the playback. I then bought what I took to be a proper Sony made VMC-15MR2 from ExPro but this didn't work also. I even tried videoing in STD thinking the HD footage was the problem but that didn't work either. I would be grateful if anyone with knowledge about this or someone who is successful with recording onto a disc could help.
