Hearing aid setting in Android 7.0

I used to have the hearing aid setting switched on before my upgrade from Android 6.1 to 7.0 on my Xperia Z5.
I can't find this setting anymore.

It used be in Settings-Call Settings-Accessability, but it is no longer there.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the community,

The new update has changed a few functions around, you will find options within Accessibility within the settings.

Apps > Settings > Accessibility > TTY mode

Let me know how you get on.

Thank you Jake for your suggestion, however, TTY relates to Text Phone, not hearing aids.

I just had a thought, nothing ventured, nothing gained so even though my research on TTY said it was Text Phone, it actually does work with hearing aids. Thank you.

I have just realised that I also have no hearing aid icon, I have just looked to find the TTY mode and it isnt there.

Will there be an app to replace the hearing aid mode?

Hi Wayneansell and Jake. I have the same problem. I can not find the hearing aid setting (HAC) after upgrading to Android 7.0 on my Xperia Z5. HAC directly connects the hearing aid in T-coil mode to the mobile phone and recognizes it and makes adjustments to improve compatibility, eliminate interference and improve the quality of voice of the people who call me. The TTY mode (teletype writer) is not the same as the HAC mode. Wayneansell, you say TTY currently works with hearing aids. Which way to select in the Z5? The HCO? The VCO? Which one connects to the headset in T-coil mode? Thank you for your help.

Really sorry for the late reply, I have done some digging and have found the following information for you.

HAC has unintentionally been removed from Android™ 7.0 Nougat in Xperia™ Z3+, Xperia™ Z4 Tablet, Xperia™ Z5, Xperia™ Z5 Compact and Xperia™ Z5 Premium. It will, however, be added back in an upcoming software release

Unfortunately, I am not able to advise when this update will take place.

I am sorry but this is not solved. The specific HAC settings should not be removed when people need them to use their device. if this had been solved you would have offered a work around, or roll back the update, or provided an app to replace the settings till the new upgrade has been released.

Could you provide us with an app that can increase or boost volume beyond the recommended settings? I have 50% hearing loss so I would happily sign any disclaimer. An increase in volume on my device is not going to harm my hearing.

To simply say that it has unintentionally been left out and to say sorry without any offereing solutions is unnacceptable and is irresponsible of a company representitive to post up.

Solutions please not excuses.

I completely agree with you. An unintentional error since the update to Android 7.0 that has meant the disappearance, in the models of Sony that says Jake, the option to activate in compatibility, much needed HAC for all people who suffer from hearing loss and wear hearing aids (I don't want to think it was intentional) has a unique solution: Sony Mobile's commitment that the HAC configuration will be restored in the next update of Android for Sony for Z5. You can not expect less from a large company with Sony's international reputation that has left the group of people who use hearing aids without a fundamental help like the HAC. I guess Jake will give us his help. I would like this unintentional error to be brought to the attention of at least the head of software development department and the Chairman and Board of Directors of Sony Mobile.

Only then can this case be resolved.

Hi. Since the update 7.1.1, compilation 32.4.A.1.54, of September 2017, the HAC mode in the Z5 was restored. Therefore, solved.
