Phone hangs/Lagging after Updating to Nougat

My phone constantly hang/lags since installing Nougat. Even doing basic function as making a call or going to Settings, takes sometime like more than 20 seconds.

Other application such as Whatsapp etc also lags.

I have ample storage space in internal storage - more than 5GB.

The same happening for me specially application freeaze like fb.
Battery draining very fast
Heated
And my headset hasn't detected

i tried safemode, but nothing difference.

headset not even detected. and i saw many complains here talking about the same symptom.

what is the reason and how it gonna be fix ?

Welcome to the community.

Try re-installing the firmware by running a software repair on your phone.

Safe Mode also does not help. Problem persists. Even my headset is no longer detected. I also have heating more than usual.

Already tried but, no difference. it is still lagging when going to Settings, applications etc. Still heating & my headphone still is not detected.

Is it possible to uninstall Nougat as the problem only started after upgrading to Nougat?

We do not have an official way to downgrade the firmware. It may just be coincidence that this is happening after the update. If the software repair has not resolved the issue I recommend you contact your local support team for further assistance.

Is Sony planning to release any fix to solve all these issue?

I don't like to send my phone to the Sony Service Centre as I would be without a phone until they fix the problem.

CameronT, it's no coincidence since lots of users also face the same problem. Sony must be reposible & send a Patch to fix the issue.

Asking users to send for Service Centre is ridiculous. They must fix what they have messed up & not expect users to do unnessary testing/troubleshooting.

Having same issues, Sent phone away to Sony, they sent it back saying working within normal parameters!

Absolute joke, think I will be going back to iPhone very soon!

Are you kidding me? Lots of people are having serious problems and you claim it's a coincidence? I made a long post outlining all the issues I have and somehow it seems to have disappeared - I will check again if I am maybe looking in the wrong place, but so far it looks like it has gone.

ETA: Yep, used the search function, my post has been deleted. Way to go on building trust, Sony.

Good news, all my lagging & slowness of application like whatsapp etc issue resolved. Simple solution was to ensure that your internal memory free space was HUGE. I am having now 18GB free & it's fine now. Earlier, it was 2GB free - so basically, I did a cleanup & transferred all photos/videos from Whatsapp to my SD memory Card. I know this is not a perfect solution but, at least it solves the problem.

Cameron - does Sony mention the minimum internal storage space to work fine?

As for the headset issue, it is still not working. Cameron - is there any solution on this?

We all LOVE Sony. But, Sony is driving us CRAZY.

I don't think the need of having 18GB of free space is a solution. You just don't buy a high speed car to just drive at low speeds, right?

It seems the phone is actually waiting for something. Google Maps is constantly hanging, afterwhich I'm getting a message to send feedback to google, close the app or wait. When the message appears, the app finally continues working. So I'll press "wait" to continue working with Google Maps. This is very iritating when driving a car.

Also, when I continue when watching video's on severel websites via Chrome, the SoC is getting very hot, afterwhich the screen slowly fades out with vertical lines. When I then touch the screen, the top left LED flickers red 3 times, and then continues solid for about 5 seconds or so. When the LED turns off, the device reboots.

After the update (in the meanwhile 2 reboots have passed), gmail stopped synching. There was only one new email in the top of the list, which I could open. On my gmail-account (from my computer) this email wasn't marked as read. After restarting the gmail app, or even the device, the device still wasn't able to sync email.

I've cleared all the cache, removed all data and eventually removed and reinstalled the Gmail app. This didn't help. After a few minutes the device froze again and it rebooted. After the reboot it finally worked.

Last but not least: Several minutes after a reboot, the widgets on my homescreen won't update anymore.

Can anyone confirm the above issues are the same as explained in any previous posts?

I hope the Sony development team can do anything about this.

I am glad to hear you found a solution. For optimal operation we would recommend you have a minimum of 25% free space.

as for the headphone issue, I have now disabled Settings - Sound - Accessory Settings - Automatics optimisation. It then, works. so, what's this "Automatic Optimisation"?

Also to maintain a 25% internal storage space is a constant struggle. When will Sony allow both the internal & external storage to be combined? After all this feature was already available before Nougat.

Automatic optimisation will attempt to select the best settings automatically.

For using SD card as storage, maybe never. It turns out using your SD card as internal storage causes significant performance issues as most SD cards have a much slower transfer rate than the internal storage.
