Familiarising myself with a newly purchased Z1. A few things I'd appreciate advice on if available:

1. I was happy initially to have a good-sized digital time display on my home screen (more legible than the very small system one in the top corner) but this recently disappeared and I got a red square saying "unable to load...". Is this soluble, or was this handy feature stripped out in a software update?

2. I've had several substantial system updates over the past week - the unit may have been on the shelf for quite some time. Currently on Android 5.1.1. They're quite time-consuming and a bit of a nuisance - how often do other people get them?

3. I tried to use the phone alarm for an early start a few days ago but although I muted the phone the light above the Sony name continued to blink, which is disturbing for light sleepers in a dark room. Is it possible to disable this blink? We ended up switching the phone off and then of course the alarm was useless.

All fairly minor issues, but any enlightenment would be much appreciated.

.
