my z ultra suddenly turned itself off again...

Its the 3rd time..the last two incident i hav some1 who turned it on but having a hard tym turning it on..on the 3rd tym it happened i just pressed the power button and the up volume at the same time and it vibrated 3 times then after a few seconds i manage to turn the phone on...what does pressing the power button and up volume do?? Just want to know..thanks guys

I'm getting the same thing... But I'm not sure if it's exactly the same problem as yours, but I get a random reboot once in while (like every few days)... i haven't been able to find any answers either... does yours do that? I haven't repaired or factory reset mines yet because i can live with this so far (who knows how much longer I'll last though)... and my "Optimize backlight" and "Adapt to lighting conditions" are both unchecked from my display options... those were the only recommendations I got from people and I'm still getting the same random rebootings so I'm guessing this is a bug/glitch Sony needs/hasn't fixed yet?

i had this for the 1st time today (owned about a week). wouldn't turn on the screen. holding power did nothing, power and vol- did nothing, vol+ and powered made it wake up/reboot whatever.

Hey guys,

I not sure where u get the idea uncheck the 'Optimized Backlight' option. But in my experience, that option must be on, it cause the SOD (soft hang) that make the screen cant wake up. Also cause random reboot, and with very long boot up time. Event it is booted, backlight cant be control and drain battery.

I have try this to fix it and it work for me. no reboot, no SOD and things any more since i do it 2 weeks ago. not rebooted my phone since then:-

1. Update to the new firmware 532.

2. Do a repair that will erase all data and fresh installation of the firmware using pc companion. (suggested by Sony)

3. Turn ON the 'Optimized backlight', and (auto backlight option will not affect at all)

I hope it can help you guys. at least i did help some of my friend with this and it prove working here. Wish it help you guys too.

note: I did try to reproduce problem after that by turn Off Optimized backlight sometime but it not causing reboot any more or SOD just yet. And if it dose, you will get long boot up, but you can just have to wait till it booted and On the option and must reboot it to back to normal.

Wat do u mean by "reboot" gaza1010?? Mine just died on 3 occasions..the first 2 it took some time to turn it on..on the third time it happend,i tried the power and volume up press..it worked..after my fone vibrated 3 times i pressed the power button and it turned on...just updated to 532 firmware..my optimized backlight was checked..

once in a while my phone just restarts/resets by itself... happened to me couple of times but I haven't tried what JoeYap has recommended. My phone is at build .532 and it's still happening to me so I may have to give it a shot at what JoeYap has mentioned. Hopefully the next update will fix this without me having to reset/repair everything, but apparently the update hasn't reached me yet so I'll just have to wait and see.

Ya. what you experiences are much look the same i had last time. Die, reboot, long boot up etc. Let just say that i just do not have it any more now.

Let hope the new one fix all major issue. What i did was just a work around that help make the phone usable.

The problem is my phone switched itself off and it turned on but there is no display at all but the backlight is on. I waited about 30minutes to see what happen next, but after 30mins still just the backlight is on. Then i fell asleep, when i woke up the next day my phone is off. I pressed the power button but the phone doesn't turned on. I tried plugging it into the charger but nothing happened, there's no red light. Then i tried to hold the power button + volume up but the phone did not turned on. Then i tried to reset, i pressed the red button beside the sim tray but still nothing happened. I also tried the PC Companion but the computer cannot detect my phone. What will i do??? Please help!!! Thanks!!!

Catgal Try to browse the forum for possible solutions to ur problm..nanyari sa akin yan 3x na and yet my fone's less than 2mos old...last tym it happend i just pressd the power button and volume up then nag on na sya...

Just had this problem for my first time today at 6:30pm EST in New York City. I'M. Visiting and watch YouTube content and my brightness is at 50% and while watching the content it just shut itself off. Everything is up to date and that the first thing I did before downloading Apps to the Z Ultra. Firmware is update to date. PURCHASE on December 17th 2013 and receive the device on the 19th. No problems until now. SONY NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE FAST BUT ALSO SEND EVERYONE A REPLACE SCREEN PROTECTOR. The protector isn't the best and already has scratches due to using a pen or pencil objects to write. This is a bad result and do not recommend using a pencil or pen but only a soft touch stylist. I LOVE THE DEVICE BUT IF THIS CONTINUES I will be force to return the product and ask for a refund. This is model C6833

Hi also happening to me on my 2 month old Z Ultra (c866).

Can't find the optimise backlight setting in display.

My phone randomly reboots itself, I find mostly when I either turn WIFI on or off it might freeze and the led notification light flashes red and it reboots.

Also when I plug in my charger at night and turn off the wifi, it may reboot and the wifi will be on and this i think causes it to consantly reboot all night. Also have a static sounding noise when using phone and opening apps that dissapers when i lock the fone.
