Calculator it's wrong

Calculator it's wrong, I put "100-20%" and the results is 99.8
I download the original Google calculator (it's exactly same) but 100-20% is 80

did you change the calculator mode? i am not much of an math expert but changing the mode to RAD INV or DEG have different answer to complicated probs

well apparently mine says the same as yours, it might be it uses different way of stating the problem or it is just faulty.

It should be 80, I get 80 on all calculators, which makes sense

100-20% = 100 - [(100*20)/100] = 80

@Maksim91k The xperia calculator seems correct to me. 100 - 20% = 99.8.

20/100 = 0.2. You didn't specify anywhere that it is 20% of 100. Just try to use the google calculator and type in 100-20%*100.

It will give you the same result as the first 100 - 20%. Google calculator is wrong or not correctly set up.

You have right but all calculators doing that it's not only Google's. All the calculators are set up to doing 100-80%=20 like (20/100) x 100 but manual. So for me it's wrong because it's not only one company but alls

Mathematically it is the most correct one. You can simply multiply 20% with 100 and you'll get the same answer (the one you're looking for).

You can forward your idea to your Local support but I don't think this needs to be changed, you don't change something that is working correctly.

@Maksim91k But I have tried 100-20% directly on the inbuilt calculator and it resulted 80, not 99.8. Only if you place them between () it will understand the calculus differently.

No I place then without () and naturally these numbers is a simple example all my results are "wrong" 😞

Yeah, the sony computer does the same 99.8 with and without (). Tested on a Z5c with 6.0. I'll try to get more info on this.

@Maksim91k This should be fixed in an upcoming update. Meanwhile, you can use another calculator or use different ways to calculate.

It's not wrong. 20% is equivalent to 0.2 and so 100-0.2=99.8. If it's 100%-20% then it's 80%.

@hitlers-dad what are you saying? If you buy something and it's 100€ with 20% must be 80€, all the calculators are OK not only phones but physical also and now you saying that is normal? Try on your PC and find a business calculator and try it

you go to eat out, the total its $100, you will leave a 20% tip, will the total be $120 or would it be $100.2?

Totally understand @uliwooly but the flaws are that you have presumed that the percentage is out of $100. So 20%=$20 etc. However the computer does not understand that you want it to calculate the 20% out of 100. So it presumes 20%=0.2. Get it? it has no amount to find 20% of as it's not stated. Say you said (0.2x100) then it knows it 20% of a hundred. Now granted that us humans an some calculators know to find the percentage of the first number but the calculator if it doesn't do this is technically not wrong.

You are wrong man... 20% it's not 20€ because we don't calculate only this value. If you want to buy a t-shirt and this t-shirt is 74€ but the store has 30% discount how that will cost? With your logic 73,7 .And I can't understand you... Why we must change this calculate method? I tell you all calculators are doing this "100-20%" = 80
