I doubt that its related to the latest update, check this

settings > about phone > diagnostics > test > test touchscreen

Welcome to the community.

It does seem odd that it would happen right after the update. It's possible the update didn't install correctly. I recommend running a software repair.

Done test done repair via pcc,still not working. Was working fine for a couple of days after update,then decided to not work. Can work on glove mode,but makes screen very sensitive. Is there a fix for this,not happy now,only had gone for a few days.

No cracks on screen....Not even hairline ones..

Hi there!I have the same problem now with my z3 compact.. at first the notification drop down was no longer responding..and now the back button also not responding. I thinkthe problem is in between the interaction software to hardware. Since this only happens after I updated to Lollipop. Sony Mobile should do some pactch or global update for this.

I have the same issue. First the update was well installed. But since a day or two I can't use the back button.

Please let me know how to fix this problem.

i already tested software repair but after its not working. its also no problem with touch screen bcoz when screen rotate in the same place touch work. and other side back and home button working. so please tell us talk with technacian what should we do now bcoz we have no warrenty also.

Home and back button isn't working when it's not in rotation mode. However when I turn on rotation and the back and home buttons switches over to the other side of the screen it works perfectly fine. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

does it work on safe mode?

try to run Xperia diagnostics to see if there dead spots on your screen.

since you recently updated, try to perform software repair using Xperia Companion

I have exactly the same issue. The pulldown menu and th home and back buttons spontanyously stopped working. Repairing/reinstalling the phone did not solve the issue. I see more people are reporting this strange issue. Is there a fix for this?

i also have the same issue, make me think that the phone is disposable after 1 year of using, i also see many of user have the same issue

I had the same issue days after the software update. It started of with the drop down menu not responding then after awhile the home and back buttons didnt work.

As temporary work around i installed a third party home button app called EasyTouch. Eventually i got the touch screen replaced and its working fine now. It seem to be a common fault on Z3 compact.

I'm a big fan of Sony phones and Cameras and i hope Sony improves the reliabilty of its touch screen.
